It is easy to think that the life you have is normal. Even when it feels awful. From a young age we are trained to conform; to follow the rules; to do our best to be contributing members of society.
Self expression is not encouraged. Certain activities are discouraged. We are told: "Go to school, get a job, raise a family, buy a house, get the car, the vacation, the big tv, the right clothes."
And one day we end up in a Talking Heads song. And we find ourselves saying:
"This is not my beautiful house! This is not my beautiful husband! My god! WHAT HAVE I DONE!?"
At some point in our lives, I hear it's every 28 years, we start wondering what happened. We try remembering a time when we had the power to chose, to play, to explore, to create. We find we have to go back quite far to when we were kids.
You see, kids don't regret the past or worry about the future. They live in the present all the time. Kids are natural creators.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to live in the present? Wouldn't it be wonderful to incorporate more creativity in our lives? Would it be grand to create our own reality as we WANT?!
It can be done. But it takes courage.
Courage to let go of the past. Courage to see the future is now. Courage to try something different. Courage to chose.
